iTap Homebrew festival

Postby Kally » Sat May 12, 2012 9:53 am

We are planning a homebrew festival July 29th. Here are the details...

25 Entries: 10 Garage, 10 STL Brews, 5 "wildcards"
Three Categories: IPA, Hefe/Wheat, Fruit/Vegetable
Awards for each category and a best in show
Judging is from 2pm-? (winners announced shortly thereafter)
Judging is open to anyone who attends and they will be charged a $15 cover which will cover the cost of our glassware and the large tent we will rent. The brewers will pour their own beer.

Best of show gets their beer brewed by 4 hands and submitted to pro-am comp at GABF

This also coincides with the second weekend of St Louis Beer Week, so it should be a popular event.

This festival/competition is still happening.

Who wants to submit their brew for the competition/tasting? The Brews can submit up to 10 for the formal competition, but as many can be there as want to participate.

At one time, they said the only three styles for the competition were Wheats, IPAs, and Fruit Beers. Is that still the case?

Would a Black IPA count for the category of IPA?

Mike

On Tap: IPA
Lagering: Kolsch, Dusseldorf Alt
Fermenting: APA, Belgian Blonde

Waiting on approval to serve at Heritage Festival: IPA, Kolsch, Dusseldorf Alt

black ipa sounds like an IPA to me...
The styles are limited for the competition, but any style can still be brought to share.

Registration for GABF Pro-Am has already closed, is this for next years GABF?

I'm assuming that if this event is still going on, that any cost to taste the entries has been dropped?
Give a man a beer, and he wastes an hour. Teach a man to brew, and he wastes a lifetime.
