Dunkelweizen Recipe

Postby SteveO » Mon Aug 29, 2011 5:08 pm

Looking for some input on this. The brewing software I'm using (BrewTarget) says "Cloying" but all of the numbers are hitting within the style's ranges.

12# German Wheat
6# Munich 20L
1# Caramunich
.5# Carafa Special II

2oz. Tettnang @ 60min

OG - 1.049
FG - 1.013
ABV - 4.7
IBU - 13
SRM - 17.7

10 gal batch, estimate 75% efficiency.
Prim -
2ndary -
Tap 1 - IPA v2 (dry hopped w/ Citra)
Tap 2 - JD RIS
Tap 3 - Dunkelweizen
Tap 4 - JD Barleywine

Bottled - Vanilla Porter

I think your software might be right.

This is a copy of Jamil's recipe.

Notice he's using Special B and Crystal 40 in smaller amounts.

I also think the amount of your Carafa is going to make this way chocolate.
