Iron Barley on Food Network tonite...I think.

Postby BeerGuy » Mon Mar 31, 2008 10:55 am

I've been keeping an eye on the Food Network schedule for the episode to come around that featured our very own Tom Coghill's Iron Barley restaurant. I think it's on tonight, but the Food Network hasn't updated their website with specific information about this episode. Here's what TV Guide says about it...

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives
Neighborhood Joints
The host samples German spaetzle at a St. Louis tavern; calzones at a café in Virginia; and scrapple at a diner in Philadelphia.

Sounds like the right one. Tonight (Monday) at 9:00PM on the Food Network. I'll tape it, maybe we can watch it at an upcoming Brews meeting, if that TV is still hanging around in the meeting room.

Damn, missed it by 15 minutes. Wife said it is on again 12:00 AM Tuesday. Set it to record to DVR. The question is, is 12:00 Am Midnight or Noon? If Midnight, is that midnight tonight or tomorrow night?
No wonder insurance cancellations state 12:01 AM!

To all that didn't a good time was had by all and a few of us ended up staying for the second showing @ midnight.

Great people, great food and great beer. Not much more you can ask for....

Last Night

Postby Hopking » Tue Apr 01, 2008 7:38 am

Well, there was me, Anthony and my lady friend Sheila. Zarzuela, spaetzl free at the end of the bar. We had cask 5-day, 2 Hearted Ale, Celebrator, Ofallon Smoked Porter, Schlenkerla Rauchbier and believe it or not a bottle of Cantillon Classic Gueuze and Sheila had a couple of Tuchers. And the TV show, though short, was very entertaining. Keep an eye on Tom's website for details about what he is doing during the Brewers Heritage Festival. That Saturday night is IB's 5th anniversary which complicates the evening but doesn't make it impossible. Seems like not too long ago, he didn't even have a liquor license.

Watched the DVR version last night. Great shots of Tom cooking. They say that a camera can add weight to you, but this camera seemed to make his tiny kitchen look spacious
How the heck did they even get a camera in that kitchen?
If you haven't seen the show yet, check it out the Sunday airing that John mentioned above.
