Local beer input

Postby Darkwing » Mon May 29, 2017 2:56 pm

Looking for input from Stl area beer drinkers who like real beer.
Please list your top 3 local brews which are available year round, which you can also but 1/2 barrels of.
Planning to buy a Keg for a reunion, so it has to be palatable to the masses, aka mere peasants. But still
something a homebrewer can drink alot of, ie poundable. Designated drivers will be used. Thank You.

Schlafly comes to mind first as I know they have a keg program.

Next would be the breweries that I'm not sure about:
UCBC and O'Fallon.
Serving - Dark Medicine, JD Bigfoot Barleywine Clone, JD RIS (jealous?), American Wheat Ale, Nut Brown Ale, & Blondes...
Carbonating -
Primary - Big Ape AIPA
On Deck -
In the hole -

2. Civil Life
3. Schlafly

All have kegs programs so you can purchase directly through the brewery. However, you may have more options if you purchase through distributor. Craft beer cellar in Clayton has a pretty expansive list of kegs available for purchase.

Was thinking Schlafly Pale Ale, it's approachable to anyone and certainly available in kegs.

I decided on Civil Life and Jake saved me a half barrel of Vienna Lager. It turned out to be a very good decision. I highly recommend checking out this brewery if you haven't been there. Everything I tasted was good and he treated me well. We polished off the keg at Midnight on our second day of partying!! 1977
