I was recently discussing with someone how to Siphon out of a barrel and we were thinking pushing with CO2. I normally use an auto siphon but it wouldn't be big enough for the barrel.

I must admit, the arrival of the auto siphon remedied one of my most frustrating tasks in homebrewing. :D

If you know the ID of the siphon hose you can put a small piece of copper tubing that has a OD matching the ID of that siphon hose, then start the siphon with your mouth using the copper tubing and clamp it to stop the siphon and remove the piece of copper tubing from the siphon hose and then open the clamp back up. Very simple project.

Kent uses a peristaltic pump to empty his barrel. I use an autosiphon on my small 5 gallon barrel.
