Cider source

Postby slarkin712 » Fri Nov 21, 2014 7:51 pm

I'm looking for a apple cider source. I know it might be late in the season, so I don't expect much. They have gallon jugs of cider at Schnucks, but it has potassium sorbate in it, which is a no go. I got the idea to make a sour cider, and don't want to wait until next year to get it started. Anyone know where I can get some cider without preservatives?

Look for Indian Summer cider at Schnucks / Dierbergs. It does not have potasium sorbate

I recently had success getting past Potassium Sorbate in a cider by making a starter of simple cane sugar and dumping it in at high Krausen. I forgot to check when I bought the generic cider at Schucks.

I've used Indian Summer several times on an Apfelwein and have always been happy with the results.
