Brew club recommendations

Postby JoeHPhil » Mon Jul 22, 2013 2:08 pm

OK,

So it looks like we found a house here in the DC Area (Actually Maryland) and I looked at the AHA website and found several clubs in the area. In particular FOAM (Frederick Maryland) and BURP (Silver Sprengs Maryland) seem close by.

Anyone have any experience with the DC homebrew community? I really like the balance of the enjoyment of homebrew and technical items that our club has. Recommendations?

I've read BURP newsletters and participated in their competitions for the last couple of years.

They've always got a lot of valuable and entertaining information in their newsletters and it appears that they have a TON of activities throughout the year.

Well organized and informational website too.

There's nothing that says you can't go to the meetings of both to get a feel for them.
I set out running but I take my time.

I'm pretty sure this dude is a member of BURP or FOAM (or both) and I would love to try his sour beers. I've been reading his blog for the last few years. I think he's spending the summer in San Diego though building recipe's and brewing pilot batches for a new brewery called Modern Times. If you like sours, seek this guy out!
