Grocery store south of Madison WI with good beer selection?

Postby TedH » Tue Jun 19, 2012 8:44 pm

Years ago when visiting the Great Taste of the Midwest we'd stop off on the way back and buy beer at a grocery store that had a really good selection. It was right off the highway. Anyone remember the name of the place?

Could this store be Woodman's?

It is Woodman's and it is in Janesville.

Ted, are you going this year?

There's a Woodmans in Madison as well.

John,

I wish I was going but it won't work this year. I know someone who will be up that way and I was going to ask them to bring me some of the New Glarus Cherry and maybe a bit of Sprecher.

Maybe next year when the baby is a little older I'll be able to make that trip again. Sure miss it.

Hey Ted,
If Beth & I make it to Madison I have no problem filling your grocery list, been doing it for many others the last couple of years.
Also totally free of charge but it's nice to share (1) rare kinda beer!

Best regards,

I just might take you up on that as well, Rick.

I'm also open to suggestions for my grocery list. Woodman's doesn't have an on-line list of the beers they carry and all I can remember from 10 years ago was Sprecher and the New Glarus Cherry.

Thanks.

Ted: If I have room, I can probably pick you up some things as well. We go up on Wednesday night, so I am able to hit the stores before the beer loving crowds hit Wisconsin.

I would visit the websites for Tyranena, Capital, New Glarus for starters and see what sounds good.

Tyranena Bitter Woman IPA is something I always pick up. I know some who think that New Glarus' Two Women Lager is good. Ale Asylum Ambergeddon and Hopalicious. This is just Wis. breweries. I bought Dales Pale Ale there last year, even though it is from Colo, you can't get it here. Lots of stuff to choose from.

+1 on anything from Tyranena. New Glarus always has a good variety and I recommend any Oskar Blues (Dale's Pale Ale and others) any time you can find them!

I may find myself in Wisconsin later this summer, but it will not be around GToMW, unfortunately. Good thing I have a car with some trunk space!!!
