Does anyone have any of this yeast? I was going to give it a go, but I guess it was a VSS no longer available. If you have any banked, I'd be happy to grow it up in exchange for some of the resulting beer.

I had some that I used for a barleywine but it crapped out at around 1.050 so I pitched a couple mason jars of a 1272 to finish it out.

Had I not pitched a second yeast to finish the beer I'd pull some out of the carboy for you.

I do believe that some online shops should still have it stock.

I have CL-50 on slants which I suspect is the same thing. I got them from Brewtek back a while back. It's the one he uses for a bunch of stuff like his famous RIPA...which is an awesome beer btw. Gary and I just used this for a barleywine about 6 months ago. He is waiting patiently to drink his and probably has all his 10 gals...and I just killed the last of my 10gal a week ago  .

If you need it I got it. I can streak you a slant or plate if you have one made up or just make you a 5ml starter to build up from. Let me know.

I've used it for 10 or so beers of the years with no finishing problems.

Great! I think I have some YPD plates made up so that would work. I will see if I can find them and send a PM

There are so many of us here at the med school - at least a half dozen Brews members, IIRC. We should have a happy hour meet-up sometime...

I'm at barnes/wash U too. I can bring the slant with me tomorrow and you can swing by my lab to streak it? Or give me a plate and I can streak it at home tonight...whatever's easiest. I'm in the southwest tower above the barnes emergency rooms. give me a call 2-8832.

Dan George

A brews/barnes/wash u happy hour would be cool. Utilize the Guiness sonicator thing at Applebees.

Med School Brew Crew! That's four of us in this thread and I can think of at least four others. Maybe there's something in the water around here!

I think the happy hour thing is a great idea. I keep trying to get people on my floor to do this, but w/the exception of 2 or 3, they are all just a bit too far to the nerdy side (sorry to say).

Just not the same since the Ley lab moved out- eh Dan?

Happy hour is a great idea. I have tried a few with some "local chaps" i.e within 4 or 5 doors worth but it is a struggle for most to try anything past a Schlalfy Pale Ale or a Fat Tire

The Scottish Arms usually has some really good things on tap, and not too far away. I haven't been back for awhile since they nixed the indoor pipe smoking, but it's still a good place for a pint.

Are y'all all over at the med school? Surely I can't be the only one over on the main campus.
