I've been reading the Tapatalk reviews from the Apple Store. It appears that the latest release that came out this month is not good. AKA crap. We should think carefully about this.

I will see if there are other mobile forum browsers. Does anyone know of any?

Did a little (very) research -

Other mobile forum apps are Forum Runner, Topify & XenForo.

Forum Runner costs nothing for the club, but users pay $1.99 for the app. Which I think is OK, but the Android app doesn't have some of the features the iPhone app has, such as customizable home screens with favorite forums, poll updates & graphically viewing poll results. I probably don't care about the last 2, but being able to customize a home screen and select my favorite forums would probably be a deal breaker.

Topify requires you to send an email to get information. Why don't they publish that kind of info and make it easily available. Pass.

Xenforo is $140 plus tax for 12 months then $40/year for support and upgrade. Then there are the options: To remove all Xenforo copyright notices=$250/year, to allow media galleries=$60/year, to add a resource mgr=$60/year, want enhanced search? $50/year.

Forum Runner seems a likely candidate. Thoughts?

I think we should gauge how much interest there is in the club for this before spending a lot of time on it. I've created a survey (http://www.stlbrews.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=5220). Please take a moment to fill out the survey.

SO - what was the outcome of this topic? Was it brought up for discussion at the July meeting?

Neither June or July meeting minutes are available yet.

Installed tapatalk last week, went the add route. We can remove adds but I think it costs something like $5/mo not much but doesn't seem to me like something we need to be spending money on. I know you guys were asking for this a long time ago, here's hoping it's not too little too late for our forum.

I've got installed and am using it. Thanks for getting set up on our server!

Who knows if it will save the forum or not. I think most folks are using Facebook.

We just have to post some forum exclusive content and the kids will be back. I guess it's all forum exclusive if you don't have Facebook.
