Message timestamps

Postby jackb » Fri Dec 07, 2012 11:14 am

When I view forum postings without logging in, the timestamps associated with them are off by six hours on the early side. When I log in the timestamps are correct. For months I thought people were going without sleep, posting to the forum at 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00 am. Is this unique to my computers or are others seeing this, too? Can it be fixed?

I think I fixed it. Let me know if you see it again.

It's probably due to the default time zone setting. When you log in, it knows what time zone to set you in.

When you're not logged in, it used the default.

Yea, the default time zone is set to a bogus time zone on purpose to aid in the prevention of spam bot signups since many of them don't set the timezone and accept the board default. We'll see how it goes.

It looks like the forum clock still needs to "Spring forward."

There's an option in the control panel you have to select: "Summer time is in effect"
