50 Messages

Postby StLBeer » Fri Mar 09, 2012 12:27 pm

Ok, I'll admit it, I like to hang on to my messages. I know I had more than 50. But now I only have 50 and in order to get a message I had to clear up some. SO I ask the membership - is 50 enough or not enough.

Is there a benefit to limiting it to 50? Like are they taking up that much space on the server?

50 messages is the default setting, and we didn't change it. I changed it to unlimited. However, if we start running too high on disk usage, we may have to revisit the issue.

Storage for these types of messages would have to be small, I assume.

Thanks Mike, though I was hoping to start a brews board brawl.

This is the issue I was having with my PM's. and the delete process is time consuming. So this should fix the issues where I can't get to my PM's, but the PM system in general is still clunky and I won't be using it. i don't think there's anything that can be done for that, just saying my personal take on it. I'd rather use email.
thanks for making it unlimited.

Kally has a good point about the IM system, it is too tightly tied to the forum system and most people have too many notification systems to check already without the forum adding one more. He has an email icon under his picture than can be used and it will be tied to his personal email account.

I found that I can setup my forum settings such that people can't send me PM's, so I've just turned that off. Everything works perfect now.
